Eating Disorder Warning Signs

Emotional and Behavioral Symptoms

Questions to ask yourself

  1. Are you preoccupied with weight, food, calories, body?

  2. Do you refuse to eat certain foods or food groups?

  3. Skipping meals or taking small portions?

  4. Picked up any new trendy diets?

  5. Have you been withdrawing from friends and activities?

  6. Do you have a fear of gaining weight?

  7. Do you experience mood swings especially after eating foods outside of “comfort zone”?

Physical Symptoms

Questions to ask yourself

  1. Are you noticeably cold more frequently?

  2. Have you lost your period?

  3. Feeling dizzier lately? Seeing stars?

  4. Feeling more tired than usual

  5. Is it hard to walk up stairs?

  6. Fainting?

  7. Constipated? Stomach cramping?

  8. Noticed hair falling out more than usual?

Tips for Parents

Avoid diet talk, diet foods

Take the time to educate yourself on eating disorders... knowledge is power
