DTS: Ditch The Scale - It's Time

Writer's picture: Lisa BargelliniLisa Bargellini

Do you find yourself jumping on the scale daily? Having a scale in your house is dangerous. I often ask my clients, why? If the number goes up, you are upset. If the number goes down, it sparks an obsessive need to continue to see that number go down.

Either way, it's not helpful and you find yourself trapped by a machine that cannot tell you anything more than your body mass.

It perpetuates this belief system that you are the number on the scale and nothing more. It's a trap. Keeping yourself locked in jail. You have a way out. But keeping a scale in the house is like shaking the jail bars screaming for someone to let you out without noticing that if you were to walk a few feet to the left, there are no bars. You can walk out of this obsessive cycle. But you have to be willing to take a risk and walk to the left. You will see that the scale has been holding you captive and you have more power than a number.
